D.A. Carson is one of my favorite biblical scholars. I've read a few of his books and have found them to be extremely insightful (e.g., The Difficult Doctrine of the Love of God, NT Commentary Survey, etc). I was really encouraged by his explanation of prayer and I hope it's an encouragement to you as well.
Good stuff. I like the illustration of his daughter wanting a flute. I have to say I'm a little too AD(H)D in my own prayers.
ReplyDeleteI have trouble focusing while I pray as well. Yes, it was a good illustration. It reminds me that God does know best and that I should trust in whatever he is doing even though I can't see it for myself.
